Clinical Shifts will be completed at Wake Forest Baptist (Main Academic Center) and one of the network community EDs. Teaching shifts and medical school instruction occur at the main campus and our medical school building in Winston Salem.

Extensive medical student teaching opportunities through the integrated MSI/MSII ultrasound curriculum, of which Casey Glass is the course director.

Monthly training sessions organized through the simulation center, which is a collaborative effort across multiple residencies. The fellow will have the opportunity to teach with ultrasound educators throughout the institution as well as the simulation center’s dedicated sonographer.

Teaching opportunities during ultrasound training sessions with the departments of anesthesiology, internal medicine, family medicine, critical care, neurology, pediatrics, neonatology, and surgery.

Teaching opportunities during ultrasound training sessions with community physicians at multiple hospitals affiliated with Wake Forest.

Scanning time with cardiology and radiology sonographers, per the fellows request.

Musculoskeletal ultrasound with the sports medicine department.

Transesophageal ultrasound with the cardiology or anesthesia department.

International teaching and clinical opportunities through the division of global health.

Moonlighting is available.

We strive to provide a multidisciplinary educational approach, such that our fellows leave Wake Forest with a vast and detailed knowledge of every point of care ultrasound application. We will supply our fellows with an abundance of teaching opportunities, so that they will be comfortable instructing novice or experienced ultrasound users in any educational setting. We hope to provide our fellows with a solid foundation in ultrasound department leadership, allowing them to successfully direct the research or administrative efforts required by any position they seek following graduation.
