Ultrasound Fellowship Education

Our goal is to train highly motivated point of care ultrasound educators and researchers, who will graduate with the expertise necessary to fulfill their future teaching and administrative responsibilities in any clinical care setting. We hope to provide our fellows with a superior educational experience through hands on guidance at the bedside, didactics, structured asynchronous learning, abundant teaching opportunities, and mentorship customized to the fellow's needs.

Mentorship Opportunities: Weekly scanning shifts with the ultrasound faculty, tailored to the fellow's individual skill set. Weekly supervised QA and video-based image review with the ultrasound faculty. Instruction in the production of high-quality lecture and video based educational content. Assistance in the development of an academic project. Guidance in post-fellowship job search. Administrative training with the ultrasound department leadership.

Educational Responsibilities: The fellow will provide weekly scanning shifts for residents and medical students. The fellow will perform or supervise at least 1000 ultrasound examinations during the fellowship. The fellow will acquire a standard minimum ultrasound knowledge base as outlined in the fellowship curriculum manual. The fellow is responsible for preparing and giving 4 lectures, with a focus on more advanced ultrasound applications. The fellow will facilitate one ultrasound journal club for the residents and faculty. Fellows will participate in weekly QA with the ultrasound director, with progressive QA responsibilities throughout the year. The fellow will attend the annual AIUM, SCUF, ACEP or SAEM conference.
