Program Description

Type of Program

The Fellowship is a one-year position with an appointment as a Clinical Instructor in the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Medicine. Scanning is performed at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) and at Arkansas Children's Hospital (ACH). Clinical responsibilities are performed at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences for Fellows trained in Emergency Medicine and at Arkansas Children's Hospital for Fellows trained in either Pediatrics or Pediatric Emergency Medicine.

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is Arkansas' only academic medical center, adult level I trauma center, and state-wide adult tertiary referral center with 70,000+ annual ED visits. In addition to Emergency Ultrasound, the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences includes an Emergency Medicine Residency (3 yr program, 12 residents/year) and fellowships in Emergency Medicine/Critical Care and Medical Education.

Arkansas Children's Hospital is a non-profit, private hospital that serves as the pediatric teaching affiliate of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Arkansas Children's Hospital is the only pediatric level I trauma center, burn center, and pediatric tertiary referral center in the state and has 60,000+ annual ED visits. ​Arkansas Children's Hospital is it the primary clinical site for the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Pediatric Residency Program (Peds: 25 residents/yr, Med-Peds: 5 residents/yr), Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship (3 fellows/yr), and multiple other pediatric sub-specialty training programs (Cardiology, Surgery, PICU, NICU, etc).

UAMS is also affiliated with Baptist Health Little Rock which offers additional clinical, research, and educational opportunities.
