The General Medicine Ultrasound Fellowship at OHSU is a one-of-a-kind training experience that seeks to provide our Fellows with the training to become physician-leaders in POCUS. The fellowship supports both Internal Medicine and Family Medicine physicians. Training focuses on Fellows developing expertise in POCUS knowledge, technical performance, and clinical integration, while simultaneously preparing the fellow to be a leader in POCUS. The curriculum develops a framework for knowledge building through weekly ultrasound conferences focusing on image, literature, and didactic reviews. Technical performance expertise is enhanced by regular mentored scanning with POCUS physician faculty and our full-time Educational Sonographer, in a variety of settings including the Medical Wards, various outpatient clinics, the Emergency Department, and critical care units.

Our team, the multidisciplinary OHSU POCUS Group, believes that the quality patient care is the driver for learning this technique, and Fellows have valued clinical roles either in the Internal Medicine Clinic or as a hospitalist/nocturnist at OHSU. Our Fellowship aims to shape and prepare the trainee for future leadership opportunities to meet the burgeoning need of General Medicine program who seeking to build POCUS programs.

Our program offers regular curricular experiences to help the fellows build skills.
- Weekly ultrasound conference with didactics, Journal Club, and image review
- Fellowship Bootcamp
- Monthly skill sessions with standardized patients
- ad-hoc weekly scanning sessions with clinical faculty
- cadaver joint injection lab

Teaching: Fellows are actively engaged in a number of OHSU POCUS curricula.
- UME: Medical, PA, and NP students
- GME: IM, FM, Surgery, Critical Care
- CME: multiple faculty trainings and opportunity to participate/teach in some of the national courses our team runs.

Leadership: We are dedicated to the mentorship and development of our Fellows through the following avenues.
- Participation in at least one IRB approved project
- Regular didactics on Program Management
- Opportunity to participate in Educational Scholars Program (unique OHSU run faculty development curriculum)
- provide CME to attend at least one national ultrasound conference
