Additional Funds

Reimbursement for reasonable license, hospital fees, DEA, and society membership dues. In addition, the fellow receive reimbursement for reasonable continuing medical education expenses.

Number of Clinical Hours

21 clinical hours per week.

Other Duties

Dedicated POCUS scanning sessions of active ED patients with core ultrasound, approximately 32 hours /month with a goal of 1000 scans in the year. Dedicated POCUS scanning sessions for instruction and teaching of other learners as well as PEM faculty. Completion of a scholarly project.

Norton Children's Hospital, Norton Children's Medical Center both located in Louisville, KY. Other hospitals in the Norton Healthcare system & the University of Louisville Hospital.

Educational Experience

Dedicated POCUS scanning sessions of active ED patients with core ultrasound, approximately 32 hours /month with a goal of 1000 scans in the year. Outside Ultrasound rotations to include: Pediatric Cardiology, PICU, & University of Louisville Emergency Department and may include Vascular lab, Pediatric Radiology, & OB/GYN rotations. Required media: selections include reading, listening and viewing resources.

Image Review

Weekly image review with the Director of point-of-care-ultrasound with emphasis on pathology, interesting clinical cases, and improved image acquisition.
