The Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship at New York Presbyterian Columbia University is a 3-year EUFAC accredited fellowship designed to cultivate highly-trained leaders in the field of point-of-care (POCUS) ultrasound. Our fellowship is based at the New York Presbyterian Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) with a newly renovated Emergency Department in a state-of-the-art facility. Our core mission is to provide a strong clinical foundation in basic and cutting-edge point-of-care emergency ultrasound. The breadth of our pathology in the adult clinical sites provides comprehensive hands-on scanning experience that is augmented by the partnership with our pediatric emergency ultrasound colleagues who pioneered one of the country’s first pediatric-specific point-of-care ultrasound fellowship.

The curriculum corresponds with the guidelines for ultrasound fellowship developed by the Ultrasound Section of the American College of Emergency Physicians for the core applications including the performance of a minimum of 1,200 exams, along with directed reading and experience in ultrasound teaching and administration. Additionally, Columbia University has collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide fellows exposure to niche and subspecialty applications of ultrasound. We provide opportunities for any fellow to explore their advancement in ultrasound administration, education, and research scholarship. Our curriculum will lay foundation for our fellows to become successful in any endeavor with the opportunity to focus on a particular area of interest. In addition to completion of the ultrasound fellowship, fellows will have the opportunity to pursue a 2 year Master’s degree in education or business.
