Program Description

Type of Program

We are proud to offer a one year clinical ultrasound fellowship with a focus on interdisciplinary education from medical students to attendings across multiple specialties. Desert Regional Medical Center (DRMC), located in sunny Palm Springs, CA, is the regional level 1 trauma center as well as a interventional stroke & STEMI center with an annual volume over 70,000 patients per year. DRMC hosts a 3-year emergency medicine residency with 10 residents per year as well as a new trauma critical care fellowship and residencies in general surgery and family medicine. Hi-Desert Medical Center, located just outside of Joshua Tree National Park, serves as a rural rotation for our senior residents and provides healthcare access for over 65,000 people living in the wide expanse of the high desert above Coachella Valley.

Ultrasound Fellowship Education

-Weekly one-on-one scanning shifts and didactics with ultrasound faculty for dedicated fellow curriculum education on advanced clinical ultrasound concepts and techniques
-Weekly EM resident clinical teaching shifts
-Ultrasound QA experience with monthly QA lectures
-Monthly didactic lectures to EM residents, critical care rotators, and other residencies
-2-3x/yr journal clubs
-Annual fellowship wellness retreat
-Resuscitative TEE course

Other Information

Currently, all applicants must have graduated from an ACGME-accredited Emergency Medicine residency and be board-certified or board-eligible with the American Board of Emergency Medicine. In addition, the applicant must qualify for a California medical license.
