The rotation is almost entirely spent in the ED. Residents participate in the weekly video review sessions, and structured lectures. They are expected to spend 40 hours per week scanning in the ED in addition to didactic sessions.

Lecture from 4-16 hours during each rotation.
The ultrasound Director also gives 8 -12 hours of lecture per year in the residency conference schedule.
Structured reading and video training tapes: 20-40 hours per rotation.
Other Information
The residents use an Emergency and Critical Care ultrasonography training DVD developed and produced by AJ Dean for Siemens Medical Imaging, Inc. This DVD is provided to purchasers of Seimens systems practicing in emergency or critical care settings.
